Lago de Zirahuén
El lago de Zirahuén es uno de los cuerpos de agua más profundos y cristalinos de México. Su nombre en Purépecha significa “espejo de los dioses”.
Ubicado justo en el centro del Estado de Michoacán y posee una profundidad máxima de 43 m.
Zirahuén es el lago más joven de México, tiene alta productividad basada en el turismo y la pesca sobretodo en el charal blanco.
Además de contar con distintas especies endémicas de peces, aves y anfibios. Al igual que la mayoría de los lagos turísticos, Zirahuén se ha visto afectado por la actividad humana desmedida.

Zirahuén is one of the deepest and most crystalline bodies of water in Mexico. Its name in Purépecha means ‘mirror of the gods’. It is located right in the centre of the State of Michoacán and has a maximum depth of 43 m.
Zirahuén is the youngest lake in Mexico, it has a high productivity based on tourism and fishing, especially white charal. It is also home to several endemic species of fish, birds and amphibians. Like most tourist lakes, Zirahuén has been affected by excessive human activity.
Durante nuestro viaje al lago de Zirahuén se tomó registro de sonido en dos lugares:. Primero a la orilla y posteriormente se rentó una lancha para tomar registro estando más adentro de ésta.
Nos percatamos que en este lugar hay una enorme contaminación auditiva en el lago, la cual que proviene de los barcos con motor que todo el día están haciendo trayectos para turistas. En nuestras grabaciones con hidrófono a pesar de que nos encontrábamos a kilómetros de la lancha de motor esta se escuchaba en todo momento.

During our trip to Zirahuén we took sound recordings in two places. First on the shore and then a boat was rented to record further inland.
We noticed that there is a huge amount of noise pollution in the lake, which comes from the motor boats that are making trips for tourists all day long. In our hydrophone recordings, even though we were miles away from the motorboat, we could hear it all the time.
